Bar Moga is a divey and nostalgic Japanese restaurant/cocktail bar in Greenwich Village. We came here for the signature omurice, but I was more impressed by the mocktail. My friend described this spot giving Haruki Murakami novel vibes, which I totally agreed. If you are looking for a place for a romantic date night, Bar Moga will surely impress your date. *Potato Salad It is more like a one-person serving with the small portion. The potato salad was blended with mashed potato, carrots and onions. The mustard dressing has a sweet honey taste. We liked the crispy lotus garnished on top. *Gokden Uni Pan A tiny and delicate piece of uni shokupan, topped with hokkaido uni. Not a big fan of uni, but this was not fishy at all. Very buttery and creamy. *Omu Rice** We opted for the classic chicken omurice with chicken. Our server cut open the omelette for us, and gently pour the hot demi-glaze sauce over the egg. The omelette was cooked to perfection -- runny, fluffy and soft. So delectable with the tasty fried rice and veal sauce. *Amber Sky (zero proof cocktail)** Flavor notes: Lyre's Italian spritz, orange, grapefruit, lemon, rose, honey and aquafaba. As a non-alcoholic girlie, I've tried quite many mocktails. This is by far the most satisfying one I've ever had. The rosy flavor shines, and I liked the fruity combo of orange and grapefruit. It was nicely crafted with a foamy texture. ***Get mentally prepared their food portion is VERY SMALL for the steep price you're paying.

A bustling restaurant with good vibes and yummy food! Perfect spot to catch up with friends or go on a date. Ordered the katsu sando and omurice, both which I would eat again. I would recommend making a reservation prior to going!

If you ever want to experience a high end Japanese restaurant but don't have the funds to go to Japan. You're in luck cause Bar Moga is what you're looking for. Bar Moga has an always delivered a plethora of great Japanese dishes and my 2 favorite must tries are the Kani creamy croquettes and this gyuttan curry. (I devoured the kani croquettes before I got to take pics) The gyuttan curry which was already so good was definitely elevated with their new additional ingredient. I'm assuming someone mentioned that the sauce was too sweet or something but Bar Moga was like oh is it? Hold my beer let me give you this home made spicy habanero chutney and god almighty this combo sent me to curry heaven. The beef like always so tender you just need a spoon to eat no knife no nothing just a spoon. The harmonious flavors of the curry sauce, cream and the new chili chutney just makes it the best experience. Service and ambiance is always top notch and never falls short. Highly recommend if you want to impress someone.

The first 2 times I went here, I was seated at the bar and didn't realize there was a whole other section in the back with tables. While the tables were right next to each other, it didn't feel too tight. The service was quick. I was parched when I went in, and the servers got me with the ice cold water whenever I drained my cup. I tried the Kogashi Duck Roast which -- despite the small meat portion -- was flavorful. The meat was tender and perfectly cooked. I'm typically not a Brussels sprout fan -- I basically never eat them -- but the sauce was so good that I ate them.
